Still I would probably use them again but I just might shop around. I did write to Hertz as well as sent them the evaluation but have heard nothing. I have trusted Hertz for my rental cars on many occasions and this was my worst experience. We had been told that area prices were approaching $5.00 which was not so. As to the gas purchase offered at $4.30 per gallon that we had turned down, we filled up several times and before we turned in the car and never paid over $4.11. I was surprised at Hertz and was not ready todo self-cleaning. Then while cleaning we find a large number of cockroaches running around in the trunk and under the floor mats so we had to spray for bugs before they go into our clothes and suitcases. Couldn't take it back as they had no more full size. They finally found a full size that met our original reservation stunk of cigarette smoke (really bad) so we proceeded to air it out then clean it with freshener so that it was useable. They explained that they had very few Full size cars. Maybe a nice car but we had four people with luggage so it was a not go. Then we finally go to get the Full size car we rented and it is a smaller BMW. I am a Gold Passport member but I still had to go to the counter where we went all through the need for an upgraded car (NO), more insurance (NO), buying the Gas (NO) etc. The car was sufficient and clean but the staff and management were not appropriate. The disorganization of the garage and lack of planning to consider an event like that occurring was really disheartening and I am not inclined to ever use this rental company again. Then he finally directed us to a car and he pointed us towards a Chrysler minivan that had been sitting in the garage from the moment we originally arrived. He threatened to kick us out if we didn’t follow his directions even when I politely told him we were there first and others crowded in front of us even after just arriving to the area. Management came out and began scolding the customers demanding we form a line (no one was honoring who was there first). No one knew what was going on and there was no organization to who came and when. It’s nearly 3am and we were traveling with infants. Another 1.5 hours later, the area is packed with people waiting on cars. He told us to stay close and he will come get us. I asked if there was a line or ticket system so we knew who was next. We went outside where a staff member told us there were no cars and to wait for cars to be brought out. Once completed, we were directed to go out to the garage to pick up the car. The staff were very friendly in the terminal. 1.5 hour wait in the line to take care of finalizing the rental agreement due to short-staffed.
